Experience Our Galleries

Library Galleries: Our theme this month seems to be joyful energy, with large, exciting work in both of our galleries.
Main Gallery: Boundless Fiber Artists present Boundless Joy, an exhibit of large mixed media fiber art during May and June. Boundless Joy is an exuberant show expressing the many facets of joy. Boundless Fiber Artists have met for years in our library as a critique and exhibit group, and their members have garnered dozens of regional, national and international fiber art awards.

Upstairs Gallery: Local artist Mike Giese moves his work to the Upstairs Gallery in May and June. Look for a new assortment of energetic paintings and assemblages from this bold, energetic artist.

At the Senior Center: Works by students of Donna Flebbe will continue to be on display and will be joined by a few pieces from the Crossing Borders Show.

City Hall Alcove Gallery: The Crossing Borders Show is also on display at Lafayette City Hall. This juried group exhibition explores the immigration experience from a variety of viewpoints and art mediums. Each piece tells a unique story about the artist's experience of immigrating to a new place, the immigration story of the artist's family or friends, and/or a discussion about contemporary issues related to immigration. An artist statement will accompany each piece. This exhibition is held in conjunction with the One Action 2016: Arts + Immigration Project. The show will be on display at these locations from June 3 through June 29.

Enjoy art at all of the city galleries, Art on the Street sculptures on Public Road, and sculptures that are part of Lafayette's extensive permanent Public Art Collection.

Patricia Vader is a metal artist specializing in public sculpture.
Animals inspire many of my sculptures. Living in a rural area I am surrounded by them, wild or domesticated. They are a natural part of my life and art practice.
Stay has a large shiny nose that invites petting. The sculpture is modeled on my German shepherd Merlot, a huge dog with a friendly face and big triangular ears, who loves traveling and meeting people. He is an entertaining companion on all my sculpture installation trips across the country.
