The Lafayette Cultural Resources Department is looking for artists to submit work for the following programs:
Art on the Street 2018
Art on the Street is the largest sculpture on loan program in Boulder County. 20 works will be selected; artists will each receive a $750 honorarium for a one installation, with additional $100 for artists who live more than 250 miles away. Sculpture must be available for one year, with installation the first week of April 20176. All sculptures are for sale in this year long, outdoor art display. Artworks on are eligible for the $1000 Jean Mellblom People's Choice Award or the $250 People’s Choice Award. Apply at Callforentry.org.
Women’s Art, A Persistent Path to Identity
The mission of this show is to promote local and emerging women artists, encouraging them to share their original work with the community. In doing so we celebrate with them the persistence of art making as it contributes to the artist’s identity. Named in honor of the poet Michael Adams, the Michael Adams Poetry Prize aims to cultivate and inspire poetry while celebrating Lafayette’s commitment to community arts. Art Show and Art on the Street Meet the Artists Reception at the Lafayette Public Library October 20, 6:00 – 9:00 pm.Art on the Street sculptors will be honored at the event.The event will also be the opening of the See & Respond!Art Show, where local artists and poets were invited to respond to the 2017 Art on the Street sculptures.Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories and the winner of the Art on the Street, Jean Mellblom People’s Choice Award will be announced. Lafayette Youth Poetry Prize
The Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission hosts the annual Lafayette Youth Poetry Prize, for English and Spanish Language Lafayette poets grades k - 8. Entries are due in the Spring. Complete details and entry form can be found at www.cityoflafayette.com/LYPP.
Art Night Out - Artist Booth Space
Art Night Out will return May of 2018 Crafted Life will be jurying and running ALL vendor booths at the City of Lafayette’s popular Art Night Out event. The event runs from 5-9pm and booth spaces will be only $60! Now accepting applications from fine artists as well as crafters.
Artists set up on Public Road between Cannon and Emma Streets. This is an arts focused event and non-arts related vendors may not apply.
City Gallery Walls
Call for Artists! The Lafayette Cultural Resources Division is looking for artists and arts organizations to display their work on city gallery walls for 2-month long exhibitions through 2018. The City of Lafayette has three facilities with beautiful gallery walls to display artwork on a rotating basis: Senior Center, City Hall and Lafayette Library. 24 artists or artist collaborations will have the opportunity for an exhibition each year. Individuals or organizations may apply for a grant to support arts or culture-related projects within the community. The LCAC awards money, usually not exceeding $1000 per grant, to fund projects which will directly benefit the city and residents of Lafayette. Find out more about Arts in Community Grants.
