About Reading Buddies

Reading Buddies is a free, award-winning reading enrichment program that pairs rising 1st-3rd graders with volunteers in 7th-12th grades. Buddies meet once a week to read together one-on-one, play literacy games, and do group activities. At the end of the term, the Buddies present a group project to their families. Reading Buddies has three terms; Fall, Winter/Spring, and Summer. The summer session includes Writing Buddies program for rising 4th-7th graders. Read program brochures and apply for current session.

Purpose of Reading Buddies

Reading Buddies gives kids (the Little Buddies) extra one-on-one reading practice with caring, creative teen mentors (the Big Buddies), in a fun, low-stress environment.

Reading Buddies Playdates

When the regular Reading Buddies progtam is on hiatus, drop-in playdates are scheduled for kids in grades K-5 to play reading, vocabulary, and storytelling games with our wonderful teen volunteers.
