Lafayette Youth Advisory Committee Meeting
December 7, 2011

Call to Order/Roll Call
Co-Chair Hailey Smith called the December 7 meeting to order at 6:38 pm in the Nyland Room at the Lafayette Recreation Center, 111 W. Baseline Road, Lafayette, Colorado.  The following Committee Members were present: Madison Cowan, Taylor Criss, Zach Cusworth, Jacob Ettinger, Emily Gardner, Faun Gulland, Lauren Jones, Paige Jones, Jessica Lawson, Jasjit Mangat, JD Mangat, Emma Piller, Abby Schmid, Megan Schmid, Sammy Secrist, Balkarn Shani, Alex Solheim, Jasmine Trujillo, Gabi Weldon, Greg Zimmers, and Paul Zimmers. Also present were Advisory Member Elaina Verveer and Intern Arielle Powers.

Committee Minutes
A motion was made by Emma Piller and seconded by Faun Gulland to approve the minutes of the Committee Meeting of November 9, 2011 as written.  The motion was passed unanimously. 

Scheduled Items 
Advisory Member Elaina Verveer announced that Councilor Christine Berg has been appointed to serve as the Lafayette Youth Advisory Committee’s City Council liaison.  She will succeed Councilor Staci Lupberger.  

Members of the Lafayette Youth Advisory Committee reflected on their participation in the National Philanthropy Day in Colorado awards luncheon, which was held on November 18 in Denver.  They also discussed their recent involvement at Project YES, where they painted the organization’s new space as part of a service project on November 16.

Members prepared for Lafayette’s Seventh Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. March for Peace and Celebration, which will be held on Monday, January 16, 2012.  Members revisited the program, developed an outreach and volunteer recruitment plan, reviewed the event budget, and identified businesses to approach for in-kind donations.  Members will continue to generate support for the event at their respective schools and in the community.

The Lafayette Youth Advisory Committee will continue to meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. through June 2012.

Members celebrated the holiday season at the conclusion of the December 7 meeting.

A motion was made by Emma Piller and seconded by Lauren Jones to adjourn the Lafayette Youth Advisory Committee meeting at 7:39 p.m. The motion was passed unanimously.

Advisory Member Elaina Verveer called the December 7 meeting to order at 7:39 pm in the Nyland Room at the Lafayette Recreation Center, 111 W. Baseline Road, Lafayette, Colorado.  The following Committee Members were present: Taylor Criss, Jacob Ettinger, Lauren Jones, Paige Jones, Jessica Lawson, Jasjit Mangat, Sammy Secrist, Alex Solheim, and Gabi Weldon. 

Meeting Minutes
A motion was made by Jessica Lawson and seconded by Jasjit Mangat to approve the minutes of the AmeriCorps Meeting of November 9, 2011 as written.  The motion was passed unanimously. 

Scheduled Items
Members continued to make preparations for Lafayette’s Seventh Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. March for Peace and Celebration, as well as discussed opportunities to better support Project YES in the spring. 

Members completed relevant AmeriCorps paperwork, including November service logs.

A motion was made by Paige Jones and seconded by Lauren Jones to adjourn the AmeriCorps meeting at 8:22 p.m. The motion was passed unanimously.
