CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP
January 17, 2012
Call to Order
Mayor Cutler called the January 17, 2012 City Council Workshop to order at 5:31 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 1290 South Public Road, Lafayette, Colorado.
Those in attendance were Mayor Carolyn Cutler, Mayor Pro Tem Steve Kracha and Councilors Pete d’Oronzio, Staci Lupberger, Alexandra Lynch, Brad Wiesley and Christine Berg.
Also present were City Administrator Gary Klaphake, Community Development Director Phillip Patterson, Police Chief Rick Bashor, Fire Chief Gerry Morrell, City Attorney Dave Williamson, City Clerk Susan Koster, Planning Manager Karen Westover, Recreation and Facilities Management Director Curt Cheesman, Finance Director Robert Wright, Community Life Director Betsy Stroomer, Human Resources Manager Pam Spring, Financial Advisor Jim Manire and Parks, Open Space & Golf Director Monte Stevenson..
Presentation / Century Link
Century Link State Government Relations Director Edie Ortega presented an overview of her company’s history, areas of operation and types of services.
2012 Department Activity Reports
City Administrator Klaphake reviewed the 2012 Department Activity Reports. He described the listed projects as those that are above and beyond the normal day-to-day functions of the City departments.
SoLa Development
Community Development Director Patterson presented information to the Council about the formation, purpose and operation of the SoLa Metropolitan Commercial and Institutional Districts. He said the proposed amendments to Filing #1 and #2 and the SID agreement are related to the funding and completion of the remaining public improvements. He said the process requires Council affirmation of the Consolidated Service Plan associated with the Districts as well as Council consent to the Districts’ issuance of the bonds. City Attorney Dave Williamson explained the need for Council to acknowledge that the provisions of the plan are sufficiently flexible to include construction of the remaining public improvements.
Mayor Cutler adjourned the workshop at 6:59 p.m.
