Planning Commission Workshop
Wednesday, February 29, 2012

The Planning Commission workshop of February 29, 2012 began at 7:00 p.m.  Planning Commissioners present were Chairperson Patzer, Vice Chair Wilgus, and Commissioners Steinbrecher, Benson, Wong, and Nickell. 

Absent:  Commissioner Knuth. 

Staff present included Planning Manager Karen Westover.

I. Comprehensive Plan Goals & Policies Update Discussion
The Planning Commission discussed goals and policies of the Comprehensive Plan that relate the Economic Development, applicable Transportation and Environmental Quality & Natural Resources Goals.  The Commission expressed a need to balance the economic section of the plan by recognizing other areas of town outside of Old Town.  The Commission discussed the employment and business potential surrounding Exempla Hospital and along 120th Street.  Staff discussed an approach for the mixed use parcels that described the existing conditions and opportunities and possibly develop goals and policies specific to each parcel rather than prescribe a specific ratio.

The workshop was adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
