The minutes of January 5thwill be approved at the March meeting.
2012 Oatmeal - Review
The group was very pleased with the 98% diversion rate with only 30 pounds of trash. Issues for 2013: Trash cans outside Pioneer collected trash and should be covered to encourage recycling/composting; some people complained that they couldn’t find trash cans and the lack of bathrooms; we were a little short staffed at closing; handouts for Eco-Cycle were a big hit and help resolve the lid recycling issue; need more for Peach Festival; more traffic at our booth this year; we need to do a press release about our ZW accomplishments and ZW facts; and to make up posters for next year that can be displayed at our booth.
Old/New Business
The group thought it would be nice to visit the MRF run by Eco-Cycle but difficult to get entire group together at the same time. Michelle from New Era discussed their nonpartisan group’s efforts to focus on voter registration and plastic bag bans. The group discussed supporting Denver & Boulder on educating shoppers on reusable bags and looking at fees and taxes on plastic bags.
