Minutes
March 27, 2012 7:00 P.M.

In Attendance: Mike Adams (Chair), Susan Booker (City Staff Liaison), Steve Kracha (City Council Liaison), Karen Raforth, Judy Richards, Lynn Wooton, Kate Simpson (alternate, filling in for Stacey Bernstein), Meredith Grundei (alternate), Mimi McDavid, Lisa Crandall
Absent: Stacey Bernstein (Vice-Chair/PAC Liaison)
1. Time called to order: 7:00 P.M.
2. Public Participation: None
3. Approval of February 27, 2012 Minutes: Mike Adams moved for approval; Kate Simpson seconded, the motion passed unanimously.
4. Project Updates and Report:
Election of Secretary and Treasurer – Mike
Judy Richards was nominated for Treasurer and Lisa Crandall was nominated for Secretary by Mimi McDavid. Mike Adams moved for approval, Kate Simpson seconded, the motion passed unanimously.
Governor’s Arts Award and Creative Industries Summit – Booker
Mimi McDavid moved that the LCAC authorize $200.00 from the LCAC budget for the production of a video for the 2012 Governor’s Arts Award. Karen Raforth seconded, the motion passed unanimously.
The LCAC gives Booker a special thank you for her efforts above and beyond the call of duty.
Comprehensive Plan Status – Booker
The city staff group working on the comp plan is in the process of gathering all the public input. There will be a presentation to the Planning Commission. LCAC is encouraged to attend the meeting.
Art Night Out 2012 – Booker

The bands have been chosen for all five ANOs.

We need more social networking about the events.

Booker, Jenn Ooton and Rachel Hanson met with the Police Dept. about requirements for staffing the beer garden and crowd control.

Volunteers must attend “ServSafe” training to serve alcohol.

Need to work out the details of wristbands, etc.

Left Hand Brewery and Oskar Blues are providing beer. Oskar Blues’ food truck will be set up behind the Starkey Building. Local restaurants have been invited to have stands inside the beer garden area.

We have asked local businesses to sponsor the event for only $200.00.

Kate offered to work on getting volunteers to provide a kids art booth.

Businesses at 95th and Arapahoe retail district are invited to have coupons and info available at the Discover Lafayette ANO booth. We will look for ways to get them involved in the 2013 ANO series.
Spring Retreat and Budget Planning for 2013 - Mike and Booker

In May there will be a joint retreat with the Public Art Committee.

Booker will send out a doodle calendar with dates.

Need time to review the City budget.
Arts in the Community Grants - Booker
-
Now available until mid-April.

Announced in the ArtSource, and city website.

LCAC will vote on the applications during the May meeting.
5. Reports
City Council Liason – Steve Kracha
-
The City Council has had a goal-setting meeting, and the goals are on the city website. Final adoption at the April 3, 2012 meeting.

LCAC should stay apprised of City Council’s priorities.
Public Art Committee – Booker
-
95th and Arapahoe shopping center will soon have a kinetic sculpture by Mike Davis, Whimsy.

A “Meet the Artist” reception is being planned for Art on the Street.

The Public Road sculpture walk will rotate to the 2012-2013 collection in June.
Arts! Lafayette –Mimi and Booker

Elaine Tucci resigned from ARTS!Lafayette. The group is seeking additional board members. Please let Rachel Hanson know if you have suggestions for either role.

Vote on Logo Contest (LURA).
