The Lafayette City Council is the community’s primary legislative body, comprised of seven members elected on a non-partisan basis.
The Lafayette Planning Commission, made up of seven citizens, approves the city’s policy statements in areas of major concern, such as growth, transportation, economic development and the environment.

The Planning Commission currently has an opening. Interested citizens should fill out an application, be a registered voter, have resided in Lafayette for one (1) full year, and submit a resume. Application forms are available here or at the Community Development Department at City Hall. The deadline for applications is 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2011.
