Community members of all ages and backgrounds are invited to participate in the City of Lafayette's annual Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration on Monday, January 16, 2012.
The event will commence with a March for Peace at W. Waneka Parkway and Public Road at 12:00 p.m. Immediately following, community members will have an opportunity to commemorate the national King Holiday during an afternoon celebration, featuring musical performances, poetry, food, and service projects at Pioneer Elementary (101 E. Baseline Road).
Sponsored by the Lafayette Youth Advisory Committee with support from the University of Colorado at Boulder, Naropa University, Project YES, and local schools and non-profit agencies, the event will conclude at 2:30 p.m. For more information, contact Elaina at verveer@colorado.eduor Karen at karens@cityoflafayette.com.
