 Details:The Lafayette Miners Museum is located in the Historic District of Lafayette at 108 East Simpson Street (southeast corner of East Simpson & Harrison Streets). It is currently open to the public on Thursday & Saturday afternoons. It is free & open to the public. Donations are accepted.
Private tours may be arranged by calling 303-665-7030.

The Lewis House, which houses the museum is an actual coalminers home built in the 1890s. It was located at the Gladstone Mine & moved to Lafayette during the 1910 coal strike & purchased by William & Hannah Lewis in 1913. It is on the National Register of Historic Places since 1983.

The museum is home to a variety of artifacts. In addition to coal mining memorabilia, artifacts from surrounding farms that helped in the stability & growth of the area are displayed as are personal everyday items of early citizens of Lafayette.

A brochure for a selfguided walking tour of the historic district of Lafayette is available along with other information about the museum & surrounding area. Street parking is available, no time limit or meters. Handicapped accessible.
