  1. 2017 Citizens' Police Academy

    The Citizens' Police Academy is a unique 12 week mini-police academy for citizens 15 and older. The academy meets once a week to explain and demonstrate many of the department's policies, divisions and functions. Areas covered include DUI investigation, crime scene investigation, felony car stops, traffic enforcement, tactics, SWAT, officer safety and more! If you have ever wondered why the police do what they do to keep you safe, apply to attend the 2017 academy! Applications and background checks are required. Applications available online and at the police department. Seating is limited, so apply today!

  2. 2017 Santa Cop Program

    The Lafayette Police Department's Santa Cop program coordinates gift donations for families in need in our community. The program relies largely on donations. If you would like to help support this program, the police department accepts and appreciates new toy (appropriate for 2-15 years of age) and monetary donations. Donations are accepted at the police department year round, but additional toy collection sites will be around town in November. Monetary donations (cash, check or credit card) can be accepted at the police department, municipal court and City Hall. Thank you if you can help support this much needed program!

  3. Drug Take Back & Document Shred Event

    October 28, 2017, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM @ Walmart Parking Lot

    The Lafayette Police Department participates in the national drug take back events each year, which focuses on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from our medicine cabinets. A national take back day provides the public an opportunity to surrender expired, unwanted or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances & other medication to law enforcement officers for destruction. Items which cannot be accepted for take back programs are used or unprotected syringes, thermometers, oxygen containers, used inhalers, aerosol cans, liquids containing hydrogen peroxide, chemotherapy or radioactive substances and illicit drugs. The shred event provides the public an opportunity to safely get rid of documents and possibly avoid identity theft. Please limit to no more than 3 bags or boxes. Items which cannot be accepted are newspapers, phone books, junk mail, magazines or catalogues.
