Pedestrian crosswalk project on Hwy 7 at N. Burlington Ave

BNSF Crosswalk

A pedestrian crosswalk installation project will begin April 9 on State Highway 7 (Baseline Rd.) at N. Burlington Ave., and is expected to continue for 2-3 weeks.  During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions.  Construction crews will avoid lane closures during morning and afternoon rush hours.

The purpose for the crosswalk is to allow a safe crossing for trail users on the BNSF Trail and will provide a north-south connection across Highway 7.  This installation project will include a new pedestrian refuge median as well as speed radar signs.  Upon completion, the pedestrian crossing will provide a viable passage connecting Rothman Open Space and the Great Bark Dog Park, to the portion of the trail that leads south toward Peak to Peak Charter School and the Coal Creek Regional Trail.

The City, CDOT, and Lafayette Open Space Advisory Committee (LOSAC) have been working on this project for over two years and recently received final approval from City Council and CDOT to move forward. For additional information regarding the project, please contact the Open Space administration office at 303-661-1306.
