Q: How do I register to vote?

A: Voter registration is done by the County Clerk's office.  You can get more information and a voter registration form at the County's website.  Forms are also available at the Lafayette City Hall and Public Library.

Q: How do I know if I am considered an Active Voter?

A: 

If you voted in the Special Election in February 2007 or in the General Election in 2004, you are an active voter.

If you did not vote in either of these elections, you are inactiveCheck your voter status.

Q: What do I do if I am “Inactive”?

A: You may reactivate your record by mailing or dropping off a letter including your date of birth, address, printed name and signature requesting your record to be reactivated at: Boulder County Clerk and Recorder, 1750 33rd Street, Suite 200, Boulder, CO 80301. NOTE: October 30, 2007 is the last day to apply for a ballot to be mailed to you for the November 6 Coordinated Election.

Q:  I moved within Boulder County and now reside in the City of Lafayette, how do I change my address? ( you must have resided at the new address for 30 days prior to the election)

A: 

Mail ballots will NOT be forwarded. If your record lists a former address, you can complete a voter registration form to change your address and either bring in or mail to the County Clerk on or before October 9, 2007. You may also write a letter to the Clerk and Recorder stating your new address, date of birth, printed name and signature and mail or bring to the County Clerk’s office on or before October 9.

Q: I will not be at my home address to receive my ballot. What do I need to do?

A: If you plan to be away during the ballot mailing period ( Oct 12-22) you may apply to have your ballot mailed to an alternate address. Fill out a “STATE OF COLORADO –MAIL-IN BALLOT APPLICATION” This form is only required if you want your ballot mailed to an address other than the one on file. Be sure to indicate if you want the ballot mailed to this different address for ONLY this election or for future elections. The ballot must be returned to the Boulder County Clerk and Recorder’s office on or before November 6, 2007.

Q: I did not receive my ballot in the mail. I spoiled my ballot. I think I voted my spouse’s / roommate’s ballot. What do I do now?

A: Call the Boulder County Clerk’s office at 303-413-7740. They will help you with your particular situation. The City of Lafayette will not have replacement ballots.

Q: Where can I drop my ballot off?

A: 

You can mail your ballot back to Boulder County (postage required) or drop it off in person at any of the following Boulder County Offices:
1. Boulder County Clerk’ office at 1750 33rd St.
2. Boulder County Courthouse Lobby, 1325 Pearl St., Boulder (ELECTION DAY ONLY)
3. Steinbaugh Pavilion, 824 Front St.. 
4. Longmont Clerk's Office, 529 Coffman St.-behind the building, 

The City of Lafayette is not a drop off site for ballots.

Ballots must be returned by 7:00 PM, November 6. Ballots postmarked November 6 will not be honored.
