The annual  fishing derby with Lafayette police officers will be Saturday, May 5, noon to 3pm, at Waneka Lake.  The event is free and fun for the whole family!  The first 100 kids to register, 5-15 years of age, will receive a free fishing pole, donated by the Colorado Division of Wildlife!

The afternoon is filled with fun; birds of prey demonstration by Raptors of the Rockies at noon, Learn How to Fish clinic by Jax at 1pm and fishing derby at 2pm.  There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies for biggest fish caught in the 5-8, 9-12 and 13-15 age groups.  This is a great opportunity for kids to interact with police officers during a fun event!
