In-City Tap Applications

If you are interested in purchasing a water tap in the City of Lafayette, please download the application, fill in the information requested in the yellow blocks, and bring the completed form to the Department of Public Works on the second floor of City Hall, 1290 S. Public Road. We can answer any questions you may have at that time. We will also prepare a final copy of the form and calculate your costs based on the information you provide.

Out-of-City Tap Applications

In order to qualify for a City of Lafayette water tap, you must meet certain criteria:

  • Taps must be available.
  • You must live within one of our service areas.
  • If you have an existing home, it must be within 200 feet of a City of Lafayette water main.
  • If your house is in the planning stage, please bring drawings to the Public Works Department so that we can see how the house will be situated on your lot relative to the water main.

Though there are exceptions, we generally do not provide sewer service outside the city limits.

If you live outside the city limits of Lafayette and want to purchase a water tap, please download the application, fill in the information requested in the yellow blocks, and bring the completed form to the Department of Public Works on the second floor of City Hall. We will answer any questions you may have at that time. If you qualify, we will prepare a final copy of the form and calculate your costs based on the information provided.

As of August 17, 2007, the total cost for an Out-of-City Utility Service Permit is $44,764.29 for a 3/4-inch tap. This includes the water meter fee, the water tap, and water rights. This cost is subject to change without notice.
