Trails
The City of Lafayette maintains approximately 19 miles of trail (non-sidewalk surfaces) throughout town. Please follow City ordinances by keeping dogs on leash at all times in Lafayette and picking up after them. Soft surface trails exist unless otherwise noted. Click here for map.
• Waneka Lake Trail: Easy-Walk, Bike 1.3 mile fitness trail loops around beautiful Waneka Lake. Park access is from Caria and Emma Streets. Wheelchair accessible.
• 287 By-Pass Trail: Easy-Walk, Bike 2.0 mile hard surface trail follows Highway 287 north of Highway 42 to Baseline Road. Trail intersects the Coal Creek Trail. Wheelchair accessible.
• Coal Creek Trail: Easy-Walk, Bike This beautiful trail follows Coal Creek at the east end of Lafayette off 120th Street and runs west to Superior. 3.3 miles in Lafayette. Wheelchair accessible.
• Rock Creek Open Space Trail: Easy-Walk, Bike This 2.4 mile trail follows Rock Creek on the eastern half of Lafayette. Access off of 120th Street by Rock Creek Open Space sign. Wheelchair accessible.
• Rothman Open Space: Easy-Walk, Bike In addition to numerous informal trails on Rothman and Kneebone Open Space, 2.7 miles of formalized trail runs north to south from Arapahoe Road to Lucerne Drive and farther south of Lucerne Drive, over to the Bob L. Burger Recreation Center, and east to The Great Bark Dog Park. Wheelchair accessible.
• Outdoor Classroom Trail: Easy-Walk This short trail (0.3 mile) loops around a natural setting that serves as an outdoor classroom. Wheelchair accessible.
• Indian Peaks Golf Course: Easy-Walk, Bike 1.1 mile hard surface trail surrounding the golf course. Follow pedestrian signage for your safety and to avoid conflicts with golfers and golf carts. Wheelchair accessible.
• Harney Lastoka Trail: Easy-Walk, Bike 1.1 mile soft and hard surface trail which loops around the historically significant Harney Lastoka Open Space and passes by the sports complex and community gardens off 96th Street and South Boulder Road.
