The City of Lafayette holds two 5k races each year, the Quicker Quaker at the Oatmeal Festival in January and the Lafayette 5k run/walk in June. These special events are organized by Lafayette Community Events/Discover Lafayette. The races are organized by the Recreation Department and City staff.
The events that the City sponsors creates many exciting opportunities for volunteers. The Oatmeal Festival includes the 5k run, an oatmeal breakfast, and a health fair. Among the volunteers necessary to make this work are: race marshals, waste reduction helpers, workers to put up and tear down booths at the fair, and greeters to guide people in the right direction.
Lafayette Community Events has been recognized for excellence by the Governor’s office and attract visitors and participants from all over Colorado. These events are not possible without the help of volunteers. Be a part of the fun and volunteer to help at one of Lafayette’s very special events!
