Traffic Safety

DUI Car
D.U.I. Car Accident

Engineering: A properly planned community layout can reduce the risk of traffic related accidents. If you know of a problem spot in your area that may need to be re-evaluated for proper sign placement, etc. please let us know.

Education: Knowing the laws are one thing, understanding and obeying them is another. Although laws are established to protect you, they won't be as effective if you're the only one following them. Which leads us into our third and final stage.

Enforcement: When the laws are not enforced regularly, they are sometimes forgotten or ignored. Speed limits, Seat Belt Enforcement, Traffic Signal Violations, Drunk Driving and more are addressed aggressively by the Lafayette Police Department in the hopes of creating a safer environment for us all.

For more information, or to find out about our "New Driver Education" or "Speed Trailer" programs, contact Commander Gene McCausey at (303) 665-5571, ext. 4157.

For information on our upcoming "Lafayette Neighborhood Speed Watch Program", (LNSWP), contact Commander Gene McCausey at (303) 665-5571, ext. 4157.
