K-9 Program

•The Lafayette Police Departments K-9 program was founded in the early spring of 2000. Currently there are two police K-9’s assigned to the patrol division. Corporal Bomba and K9 Devo and Corporal Hill and K9 Oree. Both K9's are German Shepherds that are trained in dual purpose work (narcotics and patrol).
Some responsibilities of the unit include:
Officer protection
Area and building searches
Suspect tracking
Narcotics detection
