The City of Lafayette Police Department is a contemporary law enforcement agency that has been providing excellent service to the community for over 100 years. Our department consists of 50 dedicated and talented individuals who operate under a Community Policing Philosophy. This philosophy directs department members to form lasting partnerships with members of the community, providing continuous feedback from the community to the police department. This two-way communication results in an outstanding relationship with the community and a high level of responsiveness to community needs and concerns.

Extraordinary service and dedication are standards that we uphold in all our activities including  Preventing and Solving crimes, Traffic Safety, numerous police/community initiatives such as the Citizen Police Academy, Public Safety Day for Kids, Restorative Justice, Police Volunteers,  School Resource Officers, as well as our efforts working with Senior Citizens.
