Landmark Tree Program
Any person who owns property in Lafayette may apply to the City Forester in order to designate a tree on that property as a "landmark tree." In order for the City Forester to designate a tree as a "landmark tree," the tree must meet one of the following criteria:
- The tree must be at least 30 years old.
- The tree must have a circumference of ten feet or more when measured three feet above its base.
- The City Forester must determine that the tree is rare or is associated with an historical event.
