Recycling Diversion Rate
RECYCLING DIVERSION RATE
Each month trash and recycling material are picked up by Western Disposal under the City contracted trash/recycling service. Currently, the City contracted service covers the non-Home Owner Association areas or subdivision areas in Lafayette. The recycling material is taken to the Boulder County Materials Recycling Facility at 63rd and Arapahoe. The Lafayette recycling material is weighed as is the trash that is sent to the regional landfill in Erie. This monthly tonnage is then reported to Lafayette. The diversion rate is the weight of recycling material that was diverted from the landfill for recycling when compared to the total weight of trash & recycling material that was collected that particular month, expressed as a percentage.
