Roofing Code Information/Checklist:
• 2009 International Residential Code and International Building Code (No Amendments)
• Must be a complete tearoff – no overlays
• Drip edge/rake metal required
• Ice and watershield strongly recommended, not required
•  A building permit is required to repair/reroof one square (100 sq. ft.) or more of roof cover
• Shingles must comply with ASTM D7158 (Class G or H) or shingles must comply with D3161 Class F

Roofing Permits
• Use the regular building permit application when applying for a roof permit.  Contractors needed to be licensed.  Your application can be faxed, mailed, or dropped off to Building Department at Lafayette City Hall, 1290 S. Public Road.  Fax Number is 303-665-2153.
• Allow 1 to 2 days for processing.  Sorry, no over the counter permits.
• Payment can be made by check, cash or credit card but must be in person with a credit card.  Sorry, no credit cards over phone or fax.  You can also mail your check in with a self-addressed stamped envelope and we will mail permit back to you.

Schedule an Inspection
• Call the inspection hotline 303-665-5506 ext. 3335 the day before you want inspection (Monday thru Friday).  Need permit number, address, type of inspection. 

Inspection Requirements
• No mid-roof inspections – one final inspection
• Ladder not required unless roof is flat
• Inspections are done between 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. – Monday thru Friday.
• Have the yellow inspection record card posted at the jobsite

Inspection Results
• Results of inspection are written on the yellow inspection record card which is left at job site after the inspection.
