The Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission interviewed for qualified and enthusiastic applicants as board members and alternates, beginning in January of 2012. The Cultural Arts Commission is citizen board dedicated to promoting, nurturing, and celebrating the visual, performing, and language arts. Board members are responsible for establishing goals and objectives for arts programs, establishing budgets, marketing and promotion, applying for grants and dispersing funds. The commission manages and directs several programs directly, such as the Cultural Arts and Heritage Festival, Art Night Out, and the arts-in-community and arts-in-education grant programs. In addition, the commission offers assistance and facilitation to local artists and arts organizations for program and project development.
The Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission is a member-driven board with limited city staff resources, and as such, board members are expected to become involved in the management of one or more program areas, in addition to policy, budget, and goal setting and meeting attendance.
The deadline to appy was January 6.
