The Lafayette Public Art Committee is looking for qualified and enthusiastic applicants as committee members and alternates, beginning in April of 2012. The Public Art Committee is citizen committee dedicated to promoting, nurturing, and celebrating the visual arts in Lafayette. Board members are responsible for establishing goals and objectives for arts programs, selecting art work, coordinating installations, establishing budgets, marketing and promotion. The committee manages and directs several programs directly, such as the Art on the Street program.
The Public Art Committee is a member-driven committee with limited city staff resources, and as such, members are expected to become involved in the management of one or more program areas, in addition to policy, budget, and goal setting and meeting attendance.
