Meetings and How They Work

WHERE AND WHEN
City Council meetings are held the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 PM. The meetings are in City Hall, 1290 S. Public Road. They are televised on Local Cable Channel 8, and are re-broadcast on Wednesday at 1:00 PM. Council meetings are also available at any time through Video Streaming.

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
The public is invited to attend all council meetings and workshop sessions. Anyone may speak to the Council during Items From The Public. During this portion of the meeting, the public may address any City business for which a public hearing is not scheduled later in the meeting. Speakers are asked to submit a "Speaker Request Form" to the City Clerk prior to that portion of the meeting, so that we have your correct name and address for the minutes. These forms are on the table just outside the Council Chambers. Speakers are asked to come to the microphone by the Mayor and give their name and address before addressing Council.

PUBLIC HEARINGS
In order to attempt to schedule the time and length of public hearings for the convenience of the Council, citizens and interested parties, the first public hearing will begin as soon after 6:30 as possible. Proponents and opponents who wish to speak are requested to register by submitting a Speaker Request prior to the meeting, and limit their remarks to five minutes. Groups of citizens bound by a common interest or position are encouraged to select a spokesperson and their comment period will be extended beyond the five-minute limit.

CONSENT AGENDA
Items of a routine and non-controversial nature are placed on the Consent Agenda to allow Council to spend its time on the more important items on a lengthy agenda. Any Councilor may request that an item be removed from the Consent Agenda and considered separately. Items removed from the Consent Agenda are generally discussed immediately after approval of the balance of the Consent Agenda.

CURRENT AGENDA
You can see the current agenda on this site, as well as agendas and minutes from past meetings. Agendas are usually posted here the Friday before a meeting. If you have questions about City Council meetings, please contact the City Clerk, by email or phone 303-665-5588 x3313.

You can sign up to automatically receive email notification when the latest City Council Meeting agenda is posted online by using the City's online subscription service.
