Arraignment Process
Municipal Court is in session every other Thursday. All traffic cases are heard at 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Ordinances violations and misdemeanors are held at 10:30 a.m.
Your first appearance in court is called an arraignment. At this time you have the option to speak to the City Prosecutor for a possible plea bargain.
You will begin by checking in at The Court Clerk's office. The clerk will ask for your name and if you would like to speak with the City Prosecutor. You will also be given an advisement of rights sheet. People appearing should read this form carefully before signing it.
You will be asked to have a seat in the court room until your name is called. Names will be called in the order of check in.
After speaking with the Prosecutor you will be sent back into the court room to be seen by the Judge, either to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty.
If a guilty plea is entered, the Judge will assess fines and any related costs. All payments are to be paid on your arraignment day by 5:00 p.m. Payment not received by 5:00 p.m. could result in a warrant being issued for your arrest. Payments can be made by using cash, check, Visa and or Master card. Additional fees will be charged for all returned checks.
