YOUR LIBRARY CARD

All the information you need to get a library card.
Use your card from the library, or from home.

With your Lafayette Public Library card
you can renew your books online, place items on hold, access our databases & use computers in the library!

Check out our Welcome Brochure
Find lots of great information that you can read or print.

Checking Out Items
Items can be checked out by a staff person or at our self-service check out machine.

Most materials are loaned for 3 weeks. Items borrowed for you from another library may have shorter checkout periods. You’ll receive a list of the items with their due dates.

Book Return
Books may be returned in the lobby or in the drive up book returns in the parking lot on the west side of the building.

Renewing Materials
You may renew most items once if the item is not on hold for someone else. You can renew your materials yourself at any library computer or by accessing the Library Catalog from outside the library using your library card number.  Or call the Check Out Desk during business hours at 303-665-5200, option 2.

Hold Everything!
If an item you want to borrow is checked out, you can request we hold it for you when it is returned. Use your card to do it yourself using the Library Catalog, or ask a staff member for help.

When you are notified that the item is available, it can be picked  up on the hold shelf located near the Check Out Desk and then checked out.

If items are not picked up within 3 days, a $1 per item charge will be added to your account.  The 3 day pickup period does not include days the library is closed.

Problems Renewing or Placing Holds?
Please call the Check Out Desk for help. If no one if available to take your call immediately leave a message and someone will call you back soon. Call 303-665-5200 and choose option 2.

Overdue Charges
All library users pay 25˘ per day per item. If you owe the library more than $5 you will not be able to check out materials.

Anyone with items that are long overdue (more than 60 days) will have their account turned over to a collection agency in order to help us get those items back. A charge of $10 will be added to the account to cover the cost of retrieving these items.

Lost & Damaged Items
You are responsible for items checked out on your library card and you will be charged the replacement cost of these items. We do not accept a duplicate of the item or a similar item as a replacement.
