Protecting Our Streams
Is it only rain down the drain?
Water from storms, snow melt and everyday activities such as lawn watering and car washing picks up debris, chemicals and other pollutants as it flows to the storm drain. It enters the storm sewer system and is carried untreated into our rivers, streams and reservoirs.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, urban stormwater is a major source of water quality damage, rivaling discharges from factories.
