		<title>Library Materials Handler - Lafayette Public Library 775 W Baseline Road</title>

		<description>Performs work involving processing, handling and shelving of library materials, and refreshing displays enabling patrons and staff to find library materials quickly because the materials are in their correct locations.&lt;BR&gt;
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:&amp;nbsp; The following duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive:&amp;nbsp; Responsible for the ensuring the correct order of materials on the shelves by checking for correct Dewey Decimal or alphabetical order, shifting and straightening materials and filling displays as needed.&amp;nbsp; In assigned areas, performs shelf maintenance; monitors condition and appearance of the materials at check-in and during shelf-reading. Communicates to staff librarians the areas of the collection that need to be weeded or need additions. &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;Run daily requests and expired holds lists; searches for and pulls items on holds shelf and in stacks; processes and shelves holds at check-in; maintains hourly door count log.&amp;nbsp; Empties interior and exterior book drop and checks in books; check in library materials daily by retrieving library materials from collection return bins; enter materials return data; checks in and sorts items delivered by courier; shelves magazines and periodicals.&amp;nbsp; Sort and re-shelve returned library materials daily by arranging materials according to established sequence on book cart and transport materials to appropriate shelves for manual reshelving. &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;Support Services Manager might ask to assist training volunteers.&amp;nbsp; Keeps informed of library and departmental information through departmental procedures.&amp;nbsp; May assist searching for claimed, returned materials; May contact patrons regarding held items; May occasionally assist library patrons with simple questions while out in stacks Maintain patron confidentiality; perform other duties as assigned. &lt;BR&gt;
QUALIFICATIONS:&amp;nbsp; Demonstrate a working knowledge of computer use; including internet, email, Microsoft Office products and must also be able to learn and become proficient with equipment and software programs as required to effectively and efficiently perform assigned duties. Must be able to learn circulation system functions and procedures including processing library materials and running reports in Horizon ILS software. Must be able to learn and become proficient with proper materials shelving according to library classification and layout. Must be able to accurately and efficiently file alphabetically, alphanumerically and numerically. Must have the ability to work as a team member and work independently to complete assignments.&amp;nbsp; Must be able to provide efficient and courteous patron service towards a diverse patron population.&amp;nbsp; Must read, speak, write and understand the English language. Must have good oral and written communication skills. &amp;nbsp;Must be able to effectively and courteously communicate and interact with customers and staff members; understand and follow oral and written instructions; deliver high quality work product; deliver services to customers with responsiveness courtesy and tact;&amp;nbsp; perform repetitive tasks while maintaining a high level of concentration.&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR&gt;
EVIDENCE OF QUALIFICATIONS:&amp;nbsp; High School diploma and six (6) months of general library or materials handling experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills and abilities.</description>

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS&amp;nbsp; The following duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive:&lt;BR&gt;
&lt;UL&gt;
    &lt;LI&gt;Oversee the process for Meal Site eligibility, registration and donation.&amp;nbsp;
    &lt;LI&gt;Organize, plan and prioritize tasks with attention to detail; analyze information, evaluate results, choose the best solutions and solve problems.&amp;nbsp;
    &lt;LI&gt;Ensure the opening, the meal service and closing of the site each day by directing the process and the volunteers who support it.&amp;nbsp;
    &lt;LI&gt;Follow established guidelines, rules and regulations.
    &lt;LI&gt;Ensure compliance with the delivery, handling, service and disposal of food items within established guidelines for food safety and food handling.
    &lt;LI&gt;Provide and monitor lunch volunteer opportunities that cultivate purposeful and responsible involvement.
    &lt;LI&gt;Coordinate all volunteer activities within the structure of the Senior Services Volunteer Program.
    &lt;LI&gt;Post and follow the established menu and ensure that the nutritional analysis provided by the Registered Dietician is available at the Meal Site.
    &lt;LI&gt;Consult with and incorporate the educational programs offered by the Registered Dietician; provide basic information on good nutrition, healthy eating habits, and nutrition monitoring.
    &lt;LI&gt;Solicit participant input, managing the complaint process and working to resolve concerns.
    &lt;LI&gt;Address conflict and negotiate solutions with others.
    &lt;LI&gt;Promote a positive, welcoming, social environment for participants during the Congregate Meal; may provide special activities during the allotted time frame to support social interaction among participants.&amp;nbsp;
    &lt;LI&gt;Notify the Emergency Response team and directing the activities of the volunteers when an emergency occurs.
    &lt;LI&gt;Provide information for and participate in Meal Site surveys and inspections by regulatory agencies.&amp;nbsp;
    &lt;LI&gt;Understand and interpret information for a variety of audiences.
    &lt;LI&gt;Collect and disseminate statistics on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis by the required deadline.&amp;nbsp;
    &lt;LI&gt;Document and record information; maintain files and process paperwork.&amp;nbsp;
    &lt;LI&gt;Provide information as required by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
    &lt;LI&gt;Inventory and store approved items used in the Meal Program; order items with approval from your Supervisor.
    &lt;LI&gt;Maintain a kitchen, dining and office environment that is clean, organized and free of hazards.
    &lt;LI&gt;Contribute information for the marketing of the Congregate Meal Site; as applicable, assist with other promotional activities including community outreach for the Congregate Meal Program.&amp;nbsp;
    &lt;LI&gt;Work cooperatively with other departments, City officials, outside agencies, and the general public; participate in meetings and educational opportunities with other meal site providers.
    &lt;LI&gt;Role-model professionalism in attitude and dress.
    &lt;LI&gt;Performs related work as assigned by supervisor. &lt;/LI&gt;

QUALIFICATIONS&lt;BR&gt;
Knowledge: - Considerable knowledge of congregate meal site operation.&amp;nbsp; Must understand nutrition service programs for older adults, including site surveys, inspections and the funding process.&amp;nbsp; Must be knowledgeable in the collection and dissemination of statistics and in the presentation of information gathered. Must understand volunteer supervision and support.&amp;nbsp; Must be knowledgeable about the equipment and facilities used at the Meal Site location.&amp;nbsp; Must understand food handling, safety and sanitation requirements.&amp;nbsp; Must be knowledgeable in customer service techniques.&amp;nbsp; &lt;BR&gt;
Skill: - Understand and interpret statistics; review information and determine compliance with standards; prepare written reports and respond to requests for information; develop, track and send information in a variety of formats.&amp;nbsp; Communicate directly with the public, other staff members, volunteers, contractors and outside agencies on a variety of tasks. Operate equipment necessary to perform the functions of the job.&amp;nbsp; Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.&lt;BR&gt;
Ability: The ability to verbally communicate in a clear and concise manner is essential to this position.&amp;nbsp; Interaction with the public is an every day occurrence and requires the ability to direct, negotiate, and mediate, often in large group settings.&amp;nbsp; Must be able to meet standards and guidelines within set boundaries and time frames. Must have the ability to successfully implement philosophies, methods, policies and procedures that will assist in the achievement of City and Department goals. &lt;BR&gt;
EVIDENCE OF QUALIFICATIONS&lt;BR&gt;
Training - Associate&amp;rsquo;s Degree in foods and nutrition or home economics, prefer Bachelor&amp;rsquo;s Degree.&lt;BR&gt;
Experience - Minimum of 2 years&amp;nbsp; in overseeing the food service operation at a congregate meal site and working directly with older adults in service provision.&amp;nbsp; Or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills and abilities.&lt;BR&gt;
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS&amp;nbsp; &lt;BR&gt;
Valid Colorado Driver&amp;rsquo;s License and a safe driving record and current CPR/AED.&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR&gt;
SCHEDULE&lt;BR&gt;
Tuesdays 10 am to 2 pm and Friday 10 am to 4 pm&lt;BR&gt;
Possible substitute hours: M-W &amp;amp; F 10a to 2 pm, Thursday 10a - 4 pm</description>
