The mission of the Lafayette Police Department is to provide professional, ethical, impartial and community oriented law enforcement services to residents and visitors alike; to promote community safety and well being; to reduce crime, the fear of crime and neighborhood decay and to protect life and property.
The Police Department is committed to crime prevention and working in concert with the community to identify and solve neighborhood problems.

The Lafayette Police Department routinely enforces traffic throughout the city to enhance the safety of the community and roadways. Periodically certain areas of the city are assigned for special traffic enforcement.
Currently the follow areas are assigned for special traffic enforcement.
