Festival Plaza
 

The Festival Plaza is a gathering place in Old Town Lafayette on Public Road and Chester Streets.  The Plaza is comprised of a series of four smaller interconnected plazas each designed with features to promote various events. 

Starting Memorial Day the fountains will be on from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily under Labor Day.  Note that the fountains may be turned off during scheduled events.

 

Picnic on the Plaza
Enjoy a picnic while listening to live music at Festival Plaza, each Wednesday throughout the summer. At each concert or performance, we will be giving away one $25 gift certificate to an audience member. The gift certificate will be from the business sponsoring the music that day.  Picnic on the Plaza is hosted by the Downtown Action Committee and features a variety of musical styles, including blues, folk, jazz and bluegrass.

August 1 – Jazz Combo (part of the Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts Adult Jazz Ensemble)

Senior Services holds its Wednesday lunches in conjunction with this event: 11am – 1pm. Call the senior lunch reservation line, 303-665-9052 x1, one day in advance to reserve a lunch.

Art Night Out
The 2012 Art Night Out series kicks off on May 18. Art Night Out takes place from 4 to 9 pm on the third Friday of the month throughout the spring and summer in Downtown Lafayette.  Each date will feature artists booths, an art walk, children’s activities (including a balloon twister, magician and face painters), the Oskar Blues Bonewagon food truck and a beer garden.

Activities for kids run 4 to 7:30 pm
Bands will play at Festival Plaza from 7:30 to 9 pm

Art Night Out is a collaborative event sponsored by the City of Lafayette, Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission, Lafayette Old Town Association, Downtown Action Committee and Old Town Lafayette businesses.
 

ART ON THE STREET
The Public Art Committee has created a rotating, outdoor, sculpture program in Old Town Lafayette.  For 2011, 16 pieces have been installed along Public Road and feature both local and out-of-state artists.  There are currently four pieces that are installed at Festival Plaza.

Reserving the Plaza
A Reservation Permit is required to hold an event at the Festival Plaza.  Obtain a copy of the Rules and Regulations. 

Reserving the Starkey Building
A Reservation Permit is required to hold an event or meeting in the Starkey Building.  All Starkey Building reservations are handled through the Community Development Department at City Hall.  Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.  Questions, please call 303-665-5588 ext. 3337.
