    WRITE OUT! and READ IN with BK LOREN What's a Write Out? It's a fun and meaningful way to write. Whether you want to write a private memoir as a gift to your family, or you have dreams of writing the next great American novel, you'll get something out of this gathering. Heck, even if you just want to write office memos or family notes that are a bit more entertaining (so people actually read them), this WRITE OUT will help. Mistakes are okay, so leave your white out at home and join us for this Write Out! And because those who dare others to take risks and write should show their own chops, to, national award winning author BK Loren will read from her work and sign books. 45 minutes for your writing; 45 minutes for a reading from BK's new book, Animal, Mineral, Radical, a book signing and Q&A. Come on along for the fun!

This beginner’sworkshop will get you started with the basics of charting your family history. Participants will learn about free resources for genealogical research and how to utilize them. Registration Required, limited to 20 participants.

  4. Plotting Ahead and Plunging Forward: Story Building for Young Writers

    February 23, 1:30 PM @ Lafayette Public Library

    A Creative Writing Workshop for Youth ages 10-15, presented by Ingrid Law Do you love to write fiction? Spend an afternoon writing with bestselling local author Ingrid Law. In this two-hour workshop, you'll learn tips and techniques to help you get all the way from "Once upon a time" to "The End," while building a dynamic main character at the same time. Bring plenty of paper, your favorite writing tool, and your imagination! Ingrid Law is the New York Times bestselling author of two novels for young readers, Savvy and Scumble. Ingrid's books have been placed on over 25 state reading lists, and have earned accolades from Publisher's Weekly, Oprah's reading list, the Today Show's Al Roker's Book Club for Kids, and the Smithsonian. Savvy was named a Newbery Honor book in 2009. Ingrid lives in Lafayette, Colorado, where she writes full time and is currently working on her next novel.

Preethi Burkholder will examine the life stories of some of the most amazing women of our time. Most of the women included in her book were faced with unimaginable challenges. Through amazing stories, Preethi will inspire, empower, and entertain folks of all ages!
