Waneka Lake Park

Waneka Lake Park is a recreational and wildlife refuge in a suburban setting.

Waneka Lake Park features playground structures, shelter facilities, picnic tables, benches, fishing areas, and a 1.2 mile fitness trail for walking, biking or running within its 147 acres.

Waneka Lake Boathouse provides paddleboat and canoe rentals in the summer months; however, this facility will not open in 2012 due to the drought conditions Colorado is experiencing. Restrooms and drinking fountains available year-round.

Dogs allowed on-leash.

Park Shelter Use Tip - Keep recycling an amenity the city provides in community parks by using the Eco-Cycle bins with blue lids ONLY for acceptable recyclables such as glass, aluminum, paper, cardboard, and plastic bottles. Please, no trash. Por favor, no basura.

Geology of Lafayette - Field Trip
Space is limited and reservations must be made in advance. To sign up please contact Martin Ogle: martin@entrepreneurialearth.com

Geology field trip will be led by Boulder County volunteer and naturalist, Dr. Sue Hirschfeld. The outing will begin with an overview of Lafayette geology followed by destinations of Lafayette Coal Miners museum and the Coal Creek Trail. This is a walking and driving field trip - please provide own transportation.

Dr. Hirschfeld is a retired Professor of Geology from Cal State-Hayward (now CSU East Bay).

Great Outdoor Adventure Family Camp-Out
Designed for families who are looking for a unique outdoor experience in the City! We'll find you a spot in our specially created campground at Waneka Lake Park where you can set up your own tent and enjoy some outdoor fun. Pre-registration is required and limited to the first 25 families. Fee includes all activities, entertainment, dinner, and continental breakfast. To register by August 18, call 303-665-9052.
