Evidence of Qualifications

Education
 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience 
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills, and abilities 
  • Combination of any of the these categories that is approved by the city’s Human Resources Division 
  • Require 30 semester hours of college completed 
  • Two years experience as a sworn police officer or corrections officer in a duly constituted governmental (local, state or federal) law enforcement agency or correctional institution 
  • Two years military service having been honorably discharged

Special Requirements 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age 
  • Must be Colorado POST certified or have the ability to be post certified
  • Must pass a thorough background investigation to include polygraph and psychological evaluations 
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Class "R" Colorado driver's license and have a good driving record
