EDF Climate Corps Fellow to Develop Lafayette Carbon Accounting Plan
EDF Climate Corps transforms the way organizations use energy by pairing fellows—top graduate students from the nation’s leading universities—with companies, cities, schools and public institutions to identify, measure and implement high-value ways to save energy, carbon emissions and money.

Lafayette Energy Sustainability Advisory Committee (LESAC) decided to take advantage of this program and hired EDF Fellow, Katie Eisenbrown, for the summer of 2015. Over the summer, Katie developed a Lafayette’s Carbon Accounting Plan by identifying relevant emissions sources and putting systems in place to track energy and sustainability goals. She also worked with neighboring municipalities to allow for a regional approach to GHG emissions quantification. Katie is an MBA student at the University of Colorado Leeds School of Business focused on energy and sustainability. Her passion for sustainability and background in corporate GHG measurement and reporting made her a perfect fit to work with LESAC on this project.

EDF Climate Corps has worked with over 300 organizations since the program’s launch in 2008, finding an average of $1 million in energy savings for each participating organization. Collectively, the program has uncovered enough energy savings to power 260,000 homes each year and save $1.4 billion in energy costs. For more information go to the website:
