Special Events in September
Sept 12 Celebrate the GO/Senior Services history through scrapbooks, photographs, and stories by long-time participants at the GO! Center (103 So Iowa)  Music and refreshments. 1-2:30pm 303-665-9052    
Sept 11 Western Migration of African Americans: Presentation by the Lafayette Historical Society on the African Americans movement west, featuring homesteaders, ranchers, farmers, miners, entrepreneurs, communities and the Buffalo Soldiers. 7pm Lafayette Library (775 W. Baseline Rd)    
Sept 16-19 Stop by the WOW! Children's Museum (110 N. Harrison) and make a birthday card for Lafayette!  Cards will be displayed at the Sept 19 Art Night Out.    
Sept 19 Art Night Out; See full listing of events below. Held along So Public Rd in Old Town from 5-9:15pm. Pick up a free copy of the Quasquicentennial Commemorative Publication.    
Sept 20 Historic Walking Tour of Lafayette Landmarked Properties Tours will leave the Miner's Museum (108 E. Simpson St) every hour between 10:00am and 3:00pm. $5 suggested donation. Hosted by the Lafayette Historic Preservation Board.     
Sept 20 Historic Lafayette Cemetery Tours (111 W. Baseline Rd) 30 minute walking tours at 11am, 11:45am, 12:15pm, and 1pm. Tours led by the Lafayette Historical Society. More details    
Sept 20  Extended hours at the Lafayette Miners Museum (108 E. Simpson St) 10am-4pm    
Sept 27 Lafayette Quest Scavenger Hunt Family-friendly event benefitting the Youth Scholarship Fund at the Bob Burger Recreation Center. 9-11am. An exciting team scavenger hunt with a Lafayette historical twist this year! Register at www.cityoflafayette.com/QUEST    
Aug/Sept Lafayette historical display at the Bob L. Burger Recreation Center (111 W. Baseline Rd) Items on display from the Lafayette Miners Museum, designed by the Lafayette Historical Society.    
Sept Three historical displays at the Lafayette Public Library (775 W. Baseline Rd) provided by the Lafayette Historical Society; Children's toys, "Windows into the Past" mining memorabilia, “Delve Deeper into Lafayette”genealogical resources

Special Historical Activity Booths at the Lafayette Art Night Out Event

5-9:15pm The September Art Night Out is the centerpiece event celebrating Lafayette's Quasquicentennial. Kids activities, beer/wine garden, artists booths, food trucks, music. Lafayette Cultural

6-6:30pm Presentation by Mayor Berg; Recognition of the Miller family descendants and Lafayette historians Beth and Jim Hutchinson. City Council, Lafayette Clerk's Office   
6-8pm Old Town Lafayette Beard & Moustache Showoff! Presented by Curating the Cool and Mod Cabin. Stop by Curating the Cool (401 S Public) to see if your beard or moustache is prize-worthy to win beard care products and vintage items. Curating the Cool / The Mod Cabin  
5-9pm Purchase a rootbeer float in a cool, commemorative 125th anniversary glass mug Eats and Sweets  
5-8pm Kids craft activity - make a model of a miner's lantern  Lafayette Historic Preservation Committee   
Colorado Bluegrass Society's Young Pickers Jam, Bonnie and the Clydes; these bands will be performing historically-themed music during Art Night Out.

5-8pm Images and memorabilia from the Lafayette Police Dept's early days. Lafayette Police Dept   
5-8pm One of Lafayette's earliest fire trucks will be on display  Lafayette Fire Dept

5-8pm The Recreation and Parks Departments will be displaying information about the history of Lafayette open space, the Bob L. Burger Recreation Center, and the Waneka Lake Boathouse Lafayette Recreation and Parks Departments
