The Downtown Action Committee (DAC) was created by LURA to support economic development in Old Town and to oversee the projects and improvements planned for Public Road and the downtown area. During its four and a half years in operation, DAC recommended that LURA pursue the Community Revitalization Partnership review of downtown, worked collaboratively with other downtown organizations to promote the business corridor, made recommendations to LURA regarding streetscape improvements, and recommended the hiring of consultants to facilitate the creation of the 2011 Downtown Vision. On July 10, 2012, City Council accepted DAC's recommendation that the committee be dissolved.
