2011 Art on the Street
Lafayette’s Public Art Committee has selected 16 new pieces featuring local and out-of-state artists for its 2011-2012 outdoor sculpture gallery, the largest sculpture-on-loan program in Boulder County.
New pieces in Lafayette’s Art on the Street exhibit will be installed along Public Road during the first week of June, and the official unveiling will be at the “Meet the Artists Reception” at 6 p.m. on June 17 at Festival Plaza. The event kicks off the June 17 Art Night Out art walk. Tickets for the fundraiser benefiting public art are $10 and will be available for purchase at Mojo Coffeehouse, TUTTI, Eats & Sweets, pARTiculars, Lafayette Florist, Timbalier, and at the door.
Attendees will have a chance to mingle with the creators of the 16 newly installed pieces, enjoy appetizers from Leenies, Magnolia, Mumtaz, Eats & Sweets, and other Lafayette venues. The reception also includes a complimentary glass of wine from Boulder County’s own Augustina’s Winery and a musical performance by Adam Revell (piano) and Danny Meyer (tenor sax). Ted Lupberger of Walnut Realty and Anne Larson - State Farm Insurance are sponsoring the reception music.
Following the reception the artists will be stationed at their artworks and will be available to chat about their pieces and the art making process. Enjoy dinner, music and other arts opportunities in Old Town during Art Night Out. The Fever will be playing 8 to 9:30 p.m at Festival Plaza, located at the corners of Public Road and S. Chester Street.
