Position Recruitment Process
Here are some guidelines to help you through our hiring process.
A City of Lafayette Application for Employment is required. Resumes are accepted in addition, but may not act as a substitute. Applications will only be accepted for positions that are available.

Applications will be screened to determine the applicants who are qualified. This process can take two weeks Candidates who are to continue in this process will be contacted. The next steps may include interviews, performance tests, lie detector tests, background checks, drug tests, etc.

The successful candidate is notified and will be required by federal law to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States within 72 hours of the hire date.
The process of filling a vacant position may take between two to six weeks depending on the position, extent of the selection process, and number of applications received.
