  1. Fall 2020 Update

The Lafayette Library is closed until further notice, with no in-person events or programs. 1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a simple, innovative yet fun approach to establishing strong early literacy skills, helping young children gain the confidence necessary to become strong readers.

The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. Read a book - any book - to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books (and yes, you can repeat books!) before your little one starts kindergarten.

How to Track Books You Read

(Tip: if you participated in Summer Reading or Winter Reading, you already have a Beanstack account! Log in and you will be prompted to enroll in 1000 Books.)

Yes, you can use a paper log as well!

Have you already been using a paper log, or would like to use one? No problem - add everything you have done so far into Beanstack or ask a staff member for help logging your new progress into the program.
