The City of Lafayette is committed to managing a proactive stormwater management program to improve the quality of runoff entering the storm sewer system and receiving streams. The program is regulated by the Clean Water Act under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and is administered by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Lafayette joined the Keep it Clean Partnership, a regional stormwater management program, in 2011 to combine resources and implement programs to help improve the stormwater quality entering our streams and lakes as a result of runoff from residential, commercial and industrial areas, as well as to meet the education requirements of the Stormwater Program.

Report an Illegal Discharge
It is illegal to discharge anything other than stormwater (rain and snowmelt) into the storm drainage system (streets, gutters, inlets, drainage ways).
Some exceptions may apply. By reporting illegal dumping and discharges, Lafayette can detect and eliminate sources of pollution that are harmful to both people and the environment. To report illegal dumping or discharges, call 303-661-1277.
