All events are currently CANCELED. Due to rapidly escalating concerns surrounding COVID-19, the City of Lafayette has closed ALL public City facilities in the best interest of the surrounding community and our residents’ health and safety. We will do our best to reschedule events after the current health crisis has passed.
Lafayette Arts & Cultural Resources Department, in conjunction with the Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission and the Public Art Committee, offer a variety of diverse programming including, but not limited to, art workshops, artist talks, art in parks and open space, writing workshops, and films. Most of these events are free and open to the public. Some require pre-registration. Registration below.

Pathfinding: Storytelling with Melanie Yazzie - canceled
Join us for an evening of storytelling by contemporary Navajo artist, Melanie Yazzie.
Her exhibit of prints will be at The Collective Community Arts Center from March 5 - April 26.
Free and open to the Public.
Piñata Workshop - canceled
aria Ramirez will teach a piñata making workshop where she will lead 10 families through a 4 hour process of making a small piñata that they will have to break on Children’s Day on April 30. They will be taken home to fill as they please, we will not provide piñata filling. Registration below.
This is a family workshop for children kindergarten age and older.
One piñata per family, and we allocated one table per family.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
10 families maximum.
Basics of Monotype with Melanie Yazzie - canceled
Learn the basics of monotype, using Gelli Plates with Melanie Yazzie, contemporary Navajo artist.Registration below. This workshop is limited to 20 adults. Sign up required.
