[ARCHIVED] Lafayette’s 2019 Green Business Program welcomes three new companies

Congratulations to Cooper’s Automotive, Clean City Cuts, and Karen’s Company, the latest Lafayette businesses to be recognized and certified through the Lafayette Green Business Program for achievements in energy efficiency, waste diversion, water conservation, and alternative transportation. With the inclusion of these three businesses, the list of 2019 certified Green Businesses has reached 35 total awardees. Cooper's Automotive (Gold) - Cooper’s Automotive is one of the most sustainable automotive repair businesses around. Technicians as well as office staff work under all LED lights and the garage has an extensive recycling program for oils and fluids. Most impressively, there’s a large solar system on the roof that takes care of all of the building’s electricity needs.

Clean City Cuts (Silver) - Clean City Cuts is a veteran-owned business in Lafayette with the mission of reducing emissions in the lawn care industry. The lawn care equipment used is powered by clean energy produced from solar panels mounted on trailers and trucks. The equipment is also quiet and doesn’t release gas fumes.

Karen's Company (Silver) - As an EPA Lead-Safe Certified firm, Karen’s Company only uses low-VOC materials in the process of interior and exterior painting. They also self-haul their office-generated compost and have a special recycling program for unused paint.

The Lafayette Green Business program offers opportunities for business and commercial property owners to get started with sustainability initiatives or be recognized for ongoing efforts. Free advising services are available and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

The City of Lafayette, the Lafayette Energy Sustainable Advisory Committee (LESAC), Boulder County’s Partners for a Clean Environment (PACE) and the Lafayette Waste Reduction Advisory Committee (WRAC) have partnered to offer the Green Business recognition opportunity.
