Lafayette ranks #4 in AARP’s 2018 Most Livable Cities

AARP most livable city chart

Lafayette has been ranked #4 in AARP’s 2018 Most Livable City index for populations of 25,000 to 99,999.

AARP's 2018 Most Livable Cities are national, vibrant communities where residents thrive, thanks to quality-of-life factors such as plentiful jobs and accessible health care.  To assess livability, AARP looks at 40 criteria in seven categories: housing, neighborhood, transportation, environment, health, civic and social engagement, and opportunity for jobs. The index uses more than 50 national data sources to score every neighborhood and community in the U.S.

“Lafayette has worked hard to create and maintain a desirable and inclusive community,” said Lafayette Mayor Christine Berg.  “This AARP designation is timely as we continue our efforts to provide more affordable housing options and an opportunity for residents to age in place, transportation and walkability enhancements, and a healthier and more sustainable environment for everyone. We are proud to be listed as one of AARP’s most livable cities, and will continue to work hard to provide a great quality of life for all of our residents.”
