    Have you ever wondered why police do things the way they do? Have you been curious about laws, policies and officer skills that are developed to keep you safe? Lafayette Police Department’s Citizens’ Police Academy will answer more questions than you knew you had! ! The Citizens' Police Academy is a unique 13 week mini-police academy for citizens 15 and older. The academy meets once a week to explain and demonstrate many of the department's policies, divisions and functions. Topics covered include DUI investigation, crime scene investigation, building searches, felony car stops, traffic enforcement, tactics, SWAT, hiring, officer safety and much more! Many classes involve hands-on and field experiences! Applications and background checks are required. Applications available online & at the police department. Seating is limited, so apply early!
